BREAKING: Browns Have Released WR Odell Beckham Jr

It’s official – Odell Beckham Jr.’s time in Cleveland is over.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Cleveland Browns have released Odell Beckham Jr. after the team came to agreement with Beckham’s representatives on his contract:

Beckham’s release will end a disappointing tenure in Cleveland. According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, the wideout’s representatives asked the team to explore a trade going into the deadline, despite being told by the team that Beckham’s remaining salary ($8 million) would make it tough for the team to find a deal.

While Beckham was open to trading Beckham, nothing came of it, which then led to Beckham’s father posting a video disparaging the team’s starting quarterback – Baker Mayfield.

Browns GM Andrew Berry released this statement on the release:

“After careful consideration, internal discussions and conversations with Odell and his representation, we’ve determined that it is in the best interest of all parties involved that Odell no longer play for the Cleveland Browns.”

The 29-year-old WR will be subject to waivers and if he isn’t claimed is free to sign anywhere he chooses.
