Safe to say the way Brian Kelly handled his departure from Notre Dame didn’t sit well with at least one of his players.
When news broke that Kelly was becoming the new football coach at LSU, Kelly immediately called a 7 a.m. Monday meeting with his Notre Dame players.
The entire meeting, which lasted just a few minutes was secretly recorded by a player and was leaked on social media. Kelly claimed he would take questions from the players, but once he was done talking, he walked away.
Kelly signed a contract with LSU that will pay him $95 million total in base salary, a longevity bonus will push his total compensation to at least $100 million over the life of the 10-year contract, which makes him the first head coach at a public school with a nine-figure deal.
