This is horrible.
Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson was shot multiple times in a robbery attempt, NBCSportsWashington.com’s JP Finlay reports.
Finlay also reports that the injuries are non-life threatening and Robinson is in stable condition:
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero adds reports that the two bullets that struck Robinson hit his lower body.
The 23-year-old running back has impressed coaches in Washington and was earning a significant role for the Commanders. He did not play in Saturday’s preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The team released the following statement a few hours after news of the incident broke.
In the first two preseason games, Robinson ran 14 times for 57 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 15 yards.
The Commanders made him a third-round draft choice out of Alabama, where he spent five seasons.
