DK Metcalf Writes An Awesome Message On Jersey Swapped With Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson received a very cold reception from the Seattle Seahawks in his return to Lumen Field on Monday night, but one of his former teammates has no animosity towards him whatsoever.

After the Seahawks narrowly outlasted Wilson’s Denver Broncos 17-16 on Monday Night Football, the future Hall of Famer met with Seattle wide receiver and ex-teammate DK Metcalf at midfield for a jersey swap.

Metcalf wrote an extremely classy message on his game-worn jersey that he submitted to Wilson, and it has the internet and social media buzzing.

Wilson and Metcalf played in Seattle together for three seasons from 2019 to 2021. During that span, Metcalf hauled in 226 receptions for 3,199 yards and 29 touchdowns. The duo led Seattle to a wild card berth in 2019 and to the NFC West division crown in 2020.

After spending 10 seasons with the Seahawks, Wilson was traded to the Broncos in a package deal that netted Seattle five draft picks (including two first-rounders), backup quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant and defensive end Shelby Harris.

Making his highly-anticipated return to Seattle, Wilson completed 29 passes for 340 yards and one touchdown without throwing an interception. However, the Broncos struggled in the red zone and failed to score a touchdown on any of their four trips there. Running backs Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon both coughed up the football on the goal line in the third quarter.

In a controversial decision, Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett sent out Brandon McManus to attempt a game-winning 64-yard field goal attempt when Denver had a manageable 4th-and-5 situation at Seattle’s 45-yard line. McManus missed the attempt, dropping the Broncos to 0-1 on the season.
