REPORT: Zach Wilson’s Tenure With The New York Jets Is ‘Over’

Last week, Zach Wilson was benched by the New York Jets and replaced by Mike White. All Mike White did was go out and throw for 300 yards and two touchdowns while leading the Jets to a 31-10 win over the Chicago Bears.

It sure looks like Mike White is going to remain the Jets starting quarterback for the remainder of the season while Zach Wilson rides the bench. But what happens after the season?

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, there is no next season for Zach Wilson in New York. Appearing on WFAN NY’s In The Huddle, La Canfora says Wilson has “no future” with the Jets:

“He doesn’t have a future there.. He lost his job to Mike effing White, you think he wants to be there? No. No! His agents say ‘You took this kid second overall and that’s the look you gave him? That’s how little you believe in him?’ No. It’s over. I don’t know what they get for him, but it’s over,” he said. “He’s not a part of their immediate future and their immediate future’s everything, and in the offseason, both sides are going to have a bunch of reasons why they should move on,” La Canfora said.

Things have gotten so bad that he also added if Mike White would to suffer an injury, the team would rather turn to Joe Flacco.

“If this thing goes off the rails a couple weeks from now because of injury or whatever – the buggy turns into a pumpkin or whatever – I think they go to Joe Flacco. I don’t think they go back to Wilson. I don’t think that’s tenable.”

Wilson was inactive for the Jets last week. The Jets selected Wilson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and it seems like after not even two full seasons, the are ready to move on.
