Apparently the New York Jets weren’t the only AFC East team that had their sights set on Aaron Rodgers.
According to Craig Carton, a WFAN sports talk radio personalty in New York City, the New England Patriots made an offer to the Packers for Rodgers but it was Rodgers who nixed the trade because he didn’t want to go to Foxboro.
Carton claims the former NFL MVP QB ‘wanted to be a Jet.’
Earlier in the offseason it was reported that Bill Belichick and the Patriots were shopping Mac Jones but no trade was made. Carton added that the Patriots aren’t sold on Mac Jones and thus were hoping they could land Aaron Rodgers.
While the Patriots got left in the dust, the New York Jets were the main beneficiary as they pulled off the blockbuster trade with the Packers for A-Rod.
Not only did Gang Green acquire one of the best quarterbacks of all time but they simultaneously prevented their division rival from doing so.
