REPORT: NFL Films Approach Detroit Lions About Doing Another Season Of ‘Hard Knocks’

The National Football League is struggling to find a team for Hard Knocks.

The four teams — Bears, Commanders, Jets and Saints — that are eligible to be on this year’s show has shown zero interest in being on the show, which is why it has taken so long for the league to announce the team for this year.

We are midway through the month of June and the league still hasn’t made an announcement on which team will be getting the “Hard Knocks” treatment this year.

Now, it appears a surprise team could be back on it again.

The Detroit News reported that after the Detroit Lions participated in the Hard Knocks last season and NFL Films would love to showcase them again in 2023.

The ‘Hard Knocks’ formula is simple, if you’re a team that has a first-year head coach, have a playoff berth in the past two seasons or appeared on “Hard Knocks” in the past 10 years, you don’t need to be on the show.

It seems unlikely that the Lions will run it back on Hard Knocks so one of the four teams will have to just be deal with it if they get chosen to do the show.
