Jerry Jones Shockingly Admits That The Dallas Cowboys Wanted To Draft Jalen Hurts

The Dallas Cowboys shocking acquired Trey Lance from the San Francisco 49ers this week and while discussing the trade, Jerry Jones made an even more shocking revelation about another quarterback.

When speaking to reporters Saturday, the Cowboys owner said they would have taken a quarterback of Lance’s caliber if available with the fourth-round pick they sent San Francisco. Jones claimed they might have drafted Jalen Hurts if he lasted long enough three years ago.

“It is our plan, when we can, but it very seldom happens, to have someone of high enough quality to be there at the right place with our draft pick,” Jones said. “This one worked, and so we’re excited about it.”

The Cowboys had the 51st pick, two picks ahead of where Jalen Hurts went, and selected CB Trevon Diggs. There were talks about the Eagles taking Hurts too early but it seems like they made the right voice as Hurts finished second to Patrick Mahomes last season in MVP voting and took the Eagles to the Super Bowl. The 25-year-old signed a $255 million extension this offseason.
