High School Football Player Airlifted To Hospital After Having Face Smashed With A Helmet During Game

A high school football player in Calhoun County, Fla. needed to be airlifted to a hospital after a horrible assault by an opposing player after getting his head slammed into the ground before having the opposing player hit him in the head with a helmet multiple times.

In the third quarter of the Blountstown vs Marianna game, Blountstown’s Gavin Lambeth tackled Marianna’s Ethan Lipford. After the play, Lambeth grabbed Lipford by the helmet, pushed his head into the ground twice, then pulled off Lipford’s helmet and hit him with it.

Per WMBB News, Lipford was unable to walk or talk after the attack. He was treated for a concussion and, fortunately, has since been discharged from Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.

Lambeth was ejected from the game and will serve an automatic one-game suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct, but he is expected to field further punishment from the Florida High School Athletic Association and could be in trouble with the law as well.
