NFL Files Grievance Against NFLPA For Encouraging Running Backs To Fake Injuries Over Contract Disputes

The NFL and the NFLPA have always have had a rocky relationship but things seem to be getting uglier between the two parties.

According to Mark Maske of The Washington Post, the league “filed a grievance against the NFLPA last week.” Per Maske, the grievance alleges that the union advised “as a contract-negotiating tactic with teams.”

The NFLPA responded by calling the allegations “ridiculous” and carrying “no merit.”

This past offseason, we saw running back salaries take a big hit as big name running backs like Josh Jacobs (Raiders), Saquon Barkley (Giants) and Tony Pollard (Cowboys) were all assigned the franchise tag by their respective teams, but neither side received multi-year extension.

Meanwhile, Indianapolis Colts star and 2021 rushing champion Jonathan Taylor asked for a trade after meeting with Jim Irsay back in July when its became clear that the team wouldn’t sign him to a deal. The Colts demanded a lot from the respective team that wanted to trade for Taylor, thus no deal got done.

Austin Ekeler of the Los Angeles Chargers sought a trade earlier this offseason, but the two sides reached a compromise when the Bolts added incentives to the final year of his deal.
