Deion Sanders can add another achievement to his resume.
On Thursday, Coach Prime was named Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year. Sanders becomes the first college coach in more than a decade to win the award.
It you judge Sanders based on the on-field performance, he would be among the least accomplished people to win during the award. Colorado went just 4-8 this season, finishing in last place in the Pac-12 and closing the regular season with six straight losses. But despite the poor finish, the Buffaloes improvement can’t go unmentioned. They went 1-11 in 2022 and were outscored by nearly 30 points her game.
On top of that, Sanders’ impact on Colorado saw the school generate more than $90 million in profits during their 3-0 start in September.
While four wins is definitely acceptable in his first year, Coach Prime knows that the expectations are only going to rise from here on out.
