Zach Wilson maybe returning to the starting lineup as the Jets’ signal caller on Sunday, but his time with the New York Jets is over and apparently he knows it.
According to Doug Robinson off Deseret News, the Jets have internally decided that they will trade Wilson at the conclusion of the season and have already told him of that plan.
“Sources close to the situation confirmed to the Deseret News that the Jets have told Zach Wilson he will be traded after the season. Wilson and coach Robert Saleh agreed to a mutual parting following the benching — again — of Wilson and before the team decided to return him to the starting position Sunday,” Robinson reports.
Wilson will go down as one of the biggest draft busts in NFL history after the New York Jets selected him No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He’s 11-20 as a starter and has a career completion percentage under 60-percent while throwing for 21 touchdowns to 25 interceptions.
Despite the fact that the Jets have decided that they are trading Wilson, it’s hard to imagine them getting anything in return. With Aaron Rodgers returning next season, the Jets will be in the market for a backup quarterback. We know it won’t be Zach Wilson.
