An end of an era in New England.
The New England Patriots are moving on from head coach Bill Belichick, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, after a legendary 24-years that included six Super Bowl victories, nine AFC titles and dominance over the AFC East which included 17 division titles.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports, Patriots linebacker coach Jerod Mayo is “projected to be” a leading candidate to take over as the next head coach.
No one has more Super Bowl rings than Belichick, who earned six as the Patriots head coach and an additional two with the New York Giants as their defensive coordinator in 1986 and 1990.
The 71-year-old coach ranks second all-time with 333 wins, including the regular season and playoffs, only behind Don Shula who has 347.
