Chiefs’ Isaiah Buggs Facing Two Warrants For Alleged Animal Cruelty In Alabama

Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Boggs is facing two misdemeanor arrest warrants for second-degree cruelty to dogs or cats, according to Mike Rodak of 247Sports.

Rodak reports that a civil court filing Wednesday in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama releaved that police obtained the warrants against him following an incident that occurred in March.

On March 28, Tuscaloosa animal control found a pitbull and a rottweiler mix locked on a property that Buggs had rented. The dogs were discovered to be “severely malnourished, emaciated, neglected and the residence appearing to be abandoned.”

They were also found with “no access to food or water.”

The pitbull was eventually euthanized after a failed heart-worm treatment and due to aggressive behavior.

The report adds that Buggs was served a notice of termination by the property owner on April 15 that said he owed more than $3,000 in unpaid rent. A neighbor said the dogs were on the back porch for at least 10 days by the time animal control arrived.

Buggs’ attorney, Trey Robinson, issued the following statement on Wednesday:

Bugs played at the University of Alabama before being drafted by the Steelers in 2019. He played three seasons in Pittsburgh and the last two with the Detroit Lions. He was waived during the 2023 season and signed to the Chiefs practice squad in January.

They signed him on a reserve/future contract in February.
