New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been fully cleared and will take part in Giants training camp, the team announced on Wednesday.
The team confirmed that Jones will be getting all the first team reps and there will be no quarterback competition with backup Drew Lock and second year quarterback Tommy DeVito.
Jones tore his ACL eight months ago during a Week 9 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
This past offseason, the Giants made no secret about their efforts to trade up and draft his replacement. Unfortunately for them, that didn’t happen as teams picking No. 1, 2 and 3 all went quarterback and had no real desire to trade back with New York.
Jones enters a crucial year as the Giants quarterback with the team having some expectations to win games after drafting LSU WR Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick. If Jones struggles again, like has much of his career, the Giants will have no choice but to move on from the six year quarterback.
