REPORT: ‘Several Teams’ Have Expressed Interest In Trading For Bryce Young After Benching

Following the shocking decision by the Panthers to bench Bryce Young, several teams have reached out to the express interest in trading for the former No. 1 overall pick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“The Panthers have been contacted by certain teams, according to league sources, while other teams have mulled a Young trade within their own organizations,” Schefter reports, while also mentioned that the Panthers do “not intend to trade” Young at this moment.

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales announced Monday that the team would be benching Young following a disappointing 0-2 start. Andy Dalton will start against the Las Vegas Raiders.

ESPN’s Dave Newton recently reported that a Panthers source believes the team will “in time” return Young to the lineup, “maybe even this season.” Canales meanwhile said on Wednesday that trading Young is “not really something we’re really considering.”

However, according to Schefter, “sources around the league believe it is only a matter of time before Carolina actually does complete a deal involving the second-year quarterback— with the most likely time coming at some point in the offseason.”

The trade the Carolina Panthers made to move up and select Bryce Young will likely go down as the worst trade in NFL history.
