The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 30-20, on Thursday night but it didn’t come without controversy.
The Vikings had a chance late to drive down the field and tie the game, but Sam Darnold was sacked by Byron Young for a safety that effectively ended the Vikings chance at a comeback.
But replay showed that Byron Young grabbing Darnold’s facemask and yanking him to the ground and it was so obvious that even Young got up and instead of celebrating, he grabbed his helmet, expecting a penalty to be called.
But it wasn’t as the referees somehow missed the call.
Young responded to a tweet on Twitter/X this morning showing him holding his helmet after the play and explained that he was actually just covering his ears because it was so loud in the stadium.
The win put the Rams back in contention for the NFC West at 3-4 while the Vikings dropped their second straight game and now sit at 5-2.
