Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton was in the right place at the right time.
As the Chiefs headed out of the stadium and back to the locker on Sunday after securing a win over the Carolina Panthers, a young Chiefs fan attempted to lean over the railing and greet players. But as he leaned over to get a high five, the fan suddenly flipped over the railing and went down head-first but likely Wharton was able to swoop in and catch him.
A security guard can then be heard telling all the fans to back up and return to their seats.
The clip has since gone viral on social media with many fans praising Wharton’s heroic efforts to step in a save the kid from what surely would’ve been some serious injuries.
Wharton signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2020, and has since won two Super Bowls with the team, in 2023 and 2024.
The 30-27 win marked the Chiefs’ 10th win of the season.
Next up, the Chiefs will take on the Las Vegas Raiders at home in Kansas City on Friday, Nov. 29 at 3 p.m.
