Texans RB Joe Mixon Calls Out Rex Ryan After Playoff Win Over Chargers: “Smoking That Rex Ryan Pack”

Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon kept receipts.

Following the 32-12 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC Wild Card Round, Joe Mixon fired back at comments made by former NFL head coach and current ESPN analyst Rex Ryan.

“We’re smoking on that Rex Ryan bye week pack,” Mixon said while smoking a cigar in an Instagram live video following the victory on Saturday.

Ryan, who’s currently an NFL analyst with ESPN, said that a first-round postseason clash between Los Angeles and Houston was essentially a bye week for the Chargers during an appearance on Get Up.

“Chargers, basically… I never realized they get a bye on Saturday. Oh wait, they gotta play [the Texans]. What’s the difference?” Ryan declared.

Mixon took that personal and showed it on the field, rushing for 106 yards on 25 carries. The 28-year-old Mixon also helped cement the victory for Houston with a 17-yard rushing touchdown that gave his team a 20-point lead with just under four minutes left in regulation.

The Chargers were the top Wild Card team in the AFC after ending the regular season with a record of 11-6, while the Texans were the lowest-seeded division champion in the conference at 10-7.
