Colorado Football To Retire Jersey Numbers Of Shedeur Sanders & Travis Hunter

The University of Colorado announced Monday that it will retire the jerseys of Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. The decision comes after both players helped revitalize the Buffaloes football program under the leadership of head coach Deion Sanders.

Hunter, a dynamic two-way player who excelled at both cornerback and wide receiver, became a national sensation for his athleticism, work ethic, and game-changing performances. Sanders, the team’s quarterback and the son of Coach Prime, shattered school passing records and brought poise and leadership to the offense. Together, the duo symbolized a new era for Colorado football, one marked by national attention and a culture shift.

Their jersey retirements are not only a testament to their individual achievements but also a nod to their role in reestablishing Colorado as a competitive force on the national stage. The ceremony is expected to take place during a home game in the upcoming season, with fans and former players joining in to celebrate the legacy of two of the most electrifying players in CU history.

The decision to retire the uniforms hasn’t come without criticism with Sanders and Hunter leading Colorado to a 13-11 record over their two seasons while other valuable Buffaloes and some of the most famed players in college football history don’t have their jerseys retired.
