It appears that Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers’ relationship is not going well.
A few weeks ago, Aiyuk posted some cryptic pictures on Instagram that seemed to take shots at the 49ers’ organization. On Monday, he followed it up by posting more cryptic messages, this time on his YouTube Channel in which he ripped the organization for trying to trade him while he was rehabbing his torn ACL injury.
“They was talking bout trading me while I was off percocets/muscle relaxers and peeing in a cup by my bed!” Aiyuk wrote. “Couldn’t walk for 10 weeks ain’t nobody trading for me 🤣💀”
It seems like Aiyuk is not happy with the fact that the 49ers tried to trade him this offseason as he was recovering from a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus. This latest drama comes after a contract dispute that got pretty ugly between Aiyuk and the 49ers last offseason. It ended with Ayuk signing a four-year, $120 million contract extension in late August of last year.
A few weeks ago, general manager John Lynch said the 49ers’ relationship with Aiyuk is good. “In families, you have little spats, and then you give a big hug at the end, and you work together, and that’s where we’re at,” Lynch said.
Lynch may downplay it but it’s clear Aiyuk still has a bone to pick with the 49ers.
