Former NFL QB Mark Sanchez Stabbed While In Indianapolis To Cover Colts-Raiders Game

Former NFL quarterback and current FOX Sports analyst Mark Sanchez, 38, was injured in a stabbing incident that occurred early Saturday morning in downtown Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to a disturbance in an alley near West Washington Street and North Senate Avenue around 12:30 a.m. The report indicated two injured people, one of whom was identified as Sanchez. A suspect has been detained in connection with the incident.

Sanchez was in Indianapolis for his work as a FOX Sports broadcaster, scheduled to call the upcoming Colts vs. Raiders game.

Initial reports from some outlets suggested Sanchez was in critical condition. However, FOX Sports later released a statement confirming his condition: “Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition. We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”

The circumstances or motive leading up to the violent altercation remain unclear, and the police investigation is ongoing.

Sanchez was the fifth overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft by the New York Jets and had a 10-year career in the NFL before transitioning to broadcasting with FOX Sports in 2021.
