Dolphins Are Hiring Troy Aikman As Consultant To Assist With General Manager Search

NFL Hall of Fame quarterback and ESPN broadcaster of “Monday Night Football, Try Aikman is joining the Miami Dolphins as consultant in their search for a new general manager, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

While it’s not a permanent role with the organization, Aikman will serve in an “advisory capacity” and assist in helping the franchise find a new leader for the team’s front office. 

The 59-year-old Aikman has been a broadcaster for three years after retiring from the NFL, where he won three Super Bowls as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.

The Miami Dolphins fired general manager Chris Grier in October after almost a decade as the team’s GM. The move to move one rom Grier came after a 2-7 start, but Miami owner Stephen Ross opted to keep coach Mike McDaniel. The Dolphins are 5-2 since and are 7-9 entering Sunday’s season finale against the New England Patriots. The team also benched quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, signaling an end to his tenure as the team’s starting quarterback.
