Everyone remembers that image of Stefon Diggs remaining on the field after the Bills lost the 2020 AFC Championship Game to the Kansas City Chiefs.
On Sunday, Diggs was overwhelmed with emotion after the New England Patriots defeated the Denver Broncos field to advance to Super Bowl LX.
The former Bills receiver was emotional on the field after the game, appearing to hold back tears and later sharing a tender moment with his girlfriend, rapper Cardi B.
“They were calling me washed. Saying I didn’t have it anymore. I just wanted to prove to myself I am who I say I am,” Diggs said in a postgame interview with NFL Network.
Even though Diggs topped 1,000 yards this season, he struggled to replicate the success in the playoffs.
The Patriots had just 206 yards of total offense in the win, holding Denver to 181 yards in a game that was overtaken by snow late in the third quarter. Diggs made two receptions for 17 yards.
The Patriots will play either the Seahawks or Rams in Super Bowl LX on February 8th.
