This could’ve been really bad.
Texas quarterback Arch Manning had a scary moment prior to teh Longhorns’ season-opener against Texas State on Saturday.
Manning was coming out of the tunnel during the team’s pregame smoke entrance, and he fell over a videographer and hit the ground. Luckily, he wasn’t injured and managed to play.
The fall clearly didn’t impact Manning too much, as he threw for 304 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in the 59-7 rout of the Bobcats.
When asked about the incident, Manning jokingly told reporters:
“It was definitely a little bit of a shock,” Manning said. “I was definitely thrown off. It’s hard to see in that smoke. It’s a little deceiving. It was good to get my first hit before the game started and get ready to roll.”
Manning is in his fourth season with the Longhorns and his second as the team’s starter. He had a strong first season under center, throwing for 3,163 yards, 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions, adding 399 rushing yards and 10 scores on the ground.
Texas will face off in a showdown against Ohio State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
