It has now made its way into the NFL.
New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton announced on Thursday that he has contracted the virus and hopes his case can be a means for fans to take the situation seriously.
Saints’ HC Sean Payton tested positive for the coronavirus, he told ESPN on Thursday. Payton is the first person in the NFL world known to test positive for the virus.

Sean Payton said he came forward with his coronavirus diagnosis because he wants all people to heed the warnings of government officials, stay inside, and behave responsibly. More ahead on ESPN.

According to ESPN, Payton said began not feeling well this past Sunday and took the test the following day. The result came back positive Thursday afternoon. Payton, fatigued, is resting at home but has no major symptoms like cough or fever.
He’s currently quarantining in his New Orleans home, but is optimistic about his recovery.
