Miami Dolphins Considered Signing Tim Tebow Before Deciding To Go With Jay Cutler

The Miami Dolphins were left without a starting quarterback when Ryan Tannehill went down with a knee injury in practice, and it very well could have been Tebow time in South Beach.

Thought the Phins signed retired QB Jay Cutler to a 1-year deal Sunday,  the Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero reported that Tebow, who’s currently playing professional baseball, was among those considered by the Dolphins. Other possible replacements for Tannehill included Colin Kaepernick and Kyle Orton.

Like Cutler, Tebow did have a past connection with Dolphins head coach Adam Gase, having played under him in Denver when Gase was the QBs coach in 2011. With Stevie under center that year, the Broncos won the AFC West and beat the Steelers in a playoff game.

Though the Dolphins may have been the only team in the NFL left willing to give Tebow another shot at QB, he may have opted to stick with baseball, considering he’S hitting .262 with five home runs and 23 RBIs with the St. Lucie Mets.
