Houston Texans left tackle Derek Newton tore not one, but both patella tendons in knees, ending his season, and all but surely ending his career.
Newton went down without any contact as he was setting up to block Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller early in the first quarter of today’s Monday Night game between the Texans and Broncos in Denver.

A torn patella tendon is a devastating injury on it’s on. New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz and Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham are the more recent players to suffer the injury. Cruz a year and a half due to setbacks for over compensation of the knee.
But when you tear both patella tendons? Your career is likely over. Talk about unfortunate.
