FLORHAM PARK, NJ – After the giant mess that was Ryan Fitzpatrick’s contract negotiations and holdout that was finally completed just in time for the season, Ryan Fitzpatrick is not even the teams quarterback though seven weeks.

After Fitzpatrick was benched after an ugly performance on Monday Night Football vs the Cardinals, Geno Smith made his way into the game only to cough up a fumble and throw an interception on his first drive.

Three days later, Adam Schefter and Pro Football Talk are reporting that the New York Jets have named Geno as their starting interception thrower for Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Smith will have big shoes to fill, needing to throw about one interception in each of the team’s remaining games to match the incredible stats Ryan Fitzpatrick has put up through the the first 6 games of the season.

Fitzpatrick, who’s touchdown to interception ratio (5-11) is likely going to be the record for the Jets.

Team sources are saying Jets players are supportive of the news, hoping Brandon Marshall and other receivers can intercept some of Geno’s passes intended for the defense.
