2 Dead, 15 Hurt After Gunman Opens Fire On Chiefs Fans Celebrating Super Bowl Berth At Kansas City Bar

A joyous day in Kansas City turned tragic Sunday night after an armed gunman opened fire on bar-goers, injuring 15 and leaving an innocent women dead.

According to the AP, the attack occurred just before midnight right outside of 9ine Ultra Lounge in Kansas City, Missouri following the Chiefs Super Bowl berth.

The gunman was shot and killed by an armed security guard, but not before he could take a life.

A police spokesman noted that the attacker opened fire on a line of people waiting to enter the bar, who was holding an event to celebrate the Chiefs’ AFC Championship game win over the Tennessee Titans.

It’s unclear at this time whether the motive had any correlation to the game.

“It just put such a tragic end to such a wonderful day in Kansas City,” Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said at the scene, referencing the win. “It’s just hard to stand here and talk about this kind of tragedy on really one of the best days Kansas City has had in a long time.”
