JJ Watt Crashes Teens’ Pickup Game In Houston, Makes Their Day

JJ Watt is such a good guy, he’s been receiving criticism for seeming almost TOO superficial lately. There’s no hating on this one though.

With the offseason still in full effect, a likely bored Watt sent out this tweet to his 2 million twitter followers asking his city who’s playing some ball on Saturday.

Little did those who responded know, the Texan’s linebacker would come through.

Watt first showed up to Root Memorial Square Park outside Toyota Center, where the hometown Rockets play.

“He just walked up with a ball like anyone else,” said 17-year-old Damon Cormier, Jr., one of the teens playing. “We were all like, ‘Is that really J.J. Watt?’ Then, we just started playing.”“J.J. was the No. 1 pick, for sure,” Damon Cormier Sr. noted, Damon Jr.’s father who was also at the courts.

Damon Jr., his son, posted these videos as proof to his friends that his story about playing against the 6′ 5″ defensive end was no fiction.

“There was a little bit of trash talking, but not too much, because he’s J.J. Watt,” Cormier Jr., said. “Some people were scared to guard him though, because he’s so big.”

The outdoor parks weren’t his only stop. Houston Fire Station No. 9 was next on his list.
“One of our guy’s girlfriends saw J.J.’s tweet about playing ball and responded to him telling him that the boys at the 9 are always playing basketball,” firefighter Paul Portis told the Chronicle. “He just pulled up and had a basketball with him, and said, ‘You guys ready for some hoops.’ I think everyone’s jaw just dropped.”

And Watt wasn’t just making an appearance. He hooped it up for a good 45 minutes.

“He was just a regular guy,” Portis continued. “I think all the guys were kind of in awe. There wasn’t a whole lot of conversation during the game, just a group of guys playing hoops.”

Good guy JJ Watt never disappoints.
