ESPN has seen more significant personality changes in 2016 than maybe any other year in it’s history and its not even august yet.
Another company legend is departing the network after spending almost his entire career in Bristol, Connecticut.
Tom Jackson, who spent 28 seasons as one of the most recognizable and insightful NFL studio analysts on television will reportedly not return to ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” according to the Daily News.
“He’s still weighing his options,” an NFL TV source said. “This will be Tommy’s call. It’s up to him. Tommy’s driving the train on this one. The situation is fluid. My guess is he is going to leave.”
According to source, the 65-year-old has been contemplating his future for some time now.
Jackson in his playing days was a three-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro selection leaves “Countdown” as just one of the many former stars to depart.
Since the past NFL season ended in February of this year, ESPN has parted ways with Mike Ditka (he remains with ESPN in a limited capacity), Cris Carter, and Keyshawn Johnson. Chris Berman, the long-time host of the popular Sunday morning show is also set to leave ESPN, reportedly at the end of this upcoming 2016-2017 season.
Other notable departures from television’s most popular sports network include Skip Bayless, Ray Lewis, and Mike Turico.
