Lady Gaga Reportedly Likely Super Bowl 51 Halftime Performer

Lady Gaga killed it during the Super Bowl 50 National Anthem earlier this year and it now appears as if the pop star could be the headlining halftime performer for this year’s big game, Super Bowl 51.

According to Billboard, Gaga is in heavy talks for Super Bowl 51 which will be played on February 5th, 2017 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

An NFL rep with information on the matter told the music giant, “We have had conversations with several fantastic artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, at this point we do not have a final decision. We’re happy there is so much excitement about the show.”

Last season’s halftime performance which included the headliner of Coldplay, along Beyonce and Bruno Mars rocked the stage with mixed reviews and controversy.

The six-time Grammy Award winner is in the process of releasing a new album, to which her new single, “Perfect Illusion,” debuted from on September 9th.

The NFL seems to be catering the halftime show to the most mainstream, relevant icons of the day as the Super Bowl has become a spectacle more so than an actual football game. Having a performer that has a fan demographic mostly made up of women also ensures even higher viewership numbers for some Lady Gaga fans who wouldn’t tune in otherwise.
