Colin Kaepernick is still a free agent quarterback and many people have their theories as to why. Some say it’s because Kaepernick’s stance during the national anthem, others say it’s because of Kaepernick’s lack of skill.
Well, for this “anonymous” NFL executive, it has more to do with Kaepernick’s protest than his play on the field.
The exec, who remained anonymous spoke to Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman and shared his thoughts on the former 49ers quarterback:
“I don’t want him anywhere near my team,” one front office executive said. “He’s a traitor.”
He wasn’t alone in the anger directed toward Kaepernick. In interviews with seven team executives, each said he didn’t want Kaepernick on his team. This is far from scientific, but I believe this is likely the feeling among many front office executives. Not all. But many.
All seven estimated 90 to 95 percent of NFL front offices felt the same way they did. One executive said he hasn’t seen this much collective dislike among front office members regarding a player since Rae Carruth. Remember Rae Carruth? He’s still in prison for the plot to murder his pregnant girlfriend.
Carruth, a former NFL wide receiver, who was sentenced to more than 18 years in prison for conspiring to kill Cherica L. Adams, the mother of his unborn child, shooting into an occupied car and trying to destroy an unborn child.
Adams underwent an emergency C-Section to save her baby, died from her injuries. Her son, however survived.
Kaepernick’s protest on the other hand, raised awareness of a serious issue in the country and while the protest itself seems to be the topic of discussion, many are overlooking the countless acts of charity Kaepernick has done since protesting for change.
Kaepernick remains a free agent and while many believe he will eventually be signed, one thing is for sure, there are people in the NFL circle that have shunned Kaepernick not because of his skill or lack thereof but because of his protest for change.
