Colts QB Andrew Luck Could Miss First 6 Games Of The Season

With another team suffering an injury at the quarterback position, Colin Kaepernick may find himself in play with the Indianapolis Colts as well as the Baltimore Ravens.

Andrew Luck underwent shoulder surgery in January, and is currently on the preseason ‘physically unable to perform list.’

CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora is now reporting that he’s “heard plenty of rumblings” about Luck not being ready for the start of the season in September.

Per NFL rule, a player must sit out at least the first six games of the season if he’s unable to be activated off the PUP before the start of the year. Luck could very well find himself in that situation.

Team general manager Chris Ballard spoke on his injury-ridden QB saying, “We want to make sure we handle the process right with Andrew, and continuing to do the things the doctors and trainers have told him to do, and we’re going to follow that process. And as for everyone saying Andrew is down, well, every season is special in my mind. You don’t ever want to take these for granted. They’re too hard to come by. So we’ll do everything we can to put a team on the field that will compete their butts off and play winning football.

“He’s going through his throwing program right now, making sure he’s got his motion back right and the next step is getting him to practice. And once we get him to practice we’ll keep taking steps from there.”

Scott Tolzein, Stephen Morris and Phillip Walker round out the Colts’ quarterback depth chart.

A fun fact that comes into player here is that Kaepernick was Andrew Luck’s roommate at the NFL combine, to which Luck told his Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh about. The rest is history.
