Even before the Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl 52, many players had already openly admit that they were skipping out on the traditional visit to the White House.
In an interview with “Pardon My Take”, Chris Long made it clear he has no interest in going to the White House:
“No, I’m not going to the White House, Are you kidding me?”
Earlier this season, Long pledged his entire 2017 game checks to fund scholarships in his hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia after white supremacists marched through the city and caused chaos that resulted in someone losing their life.
During a Twitter exchange, the Eagles defensive end explained in detail why he has no interest in going to the White House and creating a dialogue with President Trump:
Can you produce receipt of you remarking on James Harrison or Tim Thomas skipping a trip to Obama’s White House?

“Who were the fine people on the side of the Nazis and KKK that gathered in my hometown the day a terrorist put 20 ppl in the hospital? Why reference the hatred and bigotry on “many sides” that day? Why didn’t you immediately denounce them?”

I already know the answer. None of that is political. I’m not interested in a dialogue with someone who I have to ask those questions of.

The lack of condemnation of said groups is either a calculated omission to pander to an ugly corner of our country OR he agrees with those folks. Either way, no convo needed. It’s absolutely your right.
