Paul George To Stay With The Oklahoma City Thunder

The first domino of the 2018 free agency period has fallen.

The Los Angeles Lakers were looking to make a splash in free agency by acquiring Paul George, Kahwai Leonard and LeBron James, but George won’t be one of them.

According to ESPN’s NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the 6-foot-9 free agent forward who averaged 21.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.0 steals per game last season has committed to staying with the Oklahoma City Thunder, inking a new deal to stay with Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony.

George made the announcement at a Russel Westrbook hosted party in Oklahoma City on Saturday night, telling the crowd on hand ā€œIā€™m here to stay.ā€

Per reports, the Lakers have turned their focus towards going after Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins in place of the now off-the-table George.
