The biggest fear for NFL teams with the preseason is of course injuries. That fear was realized by the Washington Redskins, magnified by the fact that they lost highly touted rookie Derrius Guice to one.
The running back out of LSU tore his ACL while being tackled against the Patriots in his first career game Thursday night in New England. Team doctored initially thought Guice had suffered a sprained MCL, but an MRI on Friday confirmed the worst.
RB Derrius Guice and TE Manasseh Garner will miss the 2018 season due to ACL injuries sustained from last night’s preseason game at the New England Patriots. Both players are expected to make a full recovery and are looking forward to playing in 2019.

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport, Guice suffered a hyperextended knee while in college but opted to not have surgery. It’s unknown at this time whether that played any factor into his current injury.
Guice was drafted with the 59th overall pick by the ‘Skins in this year’ draft and recorded 19 yards on 6 carries before suffering the injury that can be seen in the following video.
