Drew Brees Held Records For Passing Yards & TDs At His High School – Until Nick Foles Broke Them

Westlake High School might be able to say something no other football program in the country can – they’ve produced two Super Bowl MVPs, Drew Brees and Nick Foles.

Brees attended the Austin high school from 1992 to 1996, never losing a single game as a starter during with a record of 28-0-1. The new Saints QB and all-time great captured the school’s first and only state title during his time there.

Foles was on the team from 2003 to 2007, breaking the records of the man who seems to own every record. The now Eagles QB passed Brees in both passing yards and TD passes in Westlake history.

Interestingly enough, the idea for the infamous ‘Philly special’ trick play that propelled Philadelphia to their first Super Bowl win has been said to have come from Westlake’s playbook, a play that Foles once ran in his time there.

The two will have a high school reunion of sorts Sunday when the Eagles visit the Saints in the Divisional Round of the 2018 NFL playoffs.

The meeting will be only the second time in the postseason the two have gone head to head in their combined 25 seasons of being in the NFL and just the third time in NFL history that QBs from the same high school will play against each other in the playoffs. It will be the first postseason meeting of Super Bowl MVPs from the same high school ever.

Texas football as a whole is such a powerhouse that out of the eight quarterbacks left in the NFL playing this weekend, half of the played high school ball in the state.
