Eli Manning will suit up for the New York Giants one final time on Sunday but will watch from the sidelines as the Giants look to play spoiler against their division-rival Philadelphia Eagles.
Manning has had an amazing 16-year career with the Giants, winning two Super Bowls over Tom Brady, while winning the game’s MVP as well.
Manning will also be known for his weird faces and bone-headed interceptions that had many wondering if he’s really Peyton Manning’s brother or the adopted child.
But all in all, Eli had a great run that will likely culminate with him being elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day.
And if you’re on edge about whether Eli deserves to be in Canton or not, this might be the ice breaker for you.
ESPN’s Ian Conner wrote an awesome piece about the career of Eli Manning and amongst other things, shared one the coolest things about Eli.
Apparently, Eli had a beer guy in every stadium in the NFL.
Eli Manning always drank beer on the team bus. It was a Broadway Joe kind of thing to do, and a fact that might run counter to an image Manning spent absolutely no time crafting. But win, lose or draw, Manning would find someone on the road to buy him a six-pack or 12-pack that he would carry to the back of the bus, on ice, and share with some veterans as they discussed the game on the ride to the airport.
Even then, Manning’s consistency stunned his New York Giants teammates. “It was unbelievable,” said Lawrence Tynes, the kicker who won two championships with the quarterback. “He had a guy in every f—ing stadium in the league to get him that beer.”
Just put this man in Canton right now.
