Takk McKinley Fails 2nd Consecutive Physical After Being Released By Falcons And Bengals; Waived By 49ers

Takk McKinley is going back on waivers.

The San Francisco 49ers will waive the former Atlanta Falcons first round pick with a failed physical designation, according to Matt Barrows of TheAthletic.com:

Hearing the #49ers are going to waive/failed physical DE Takk McKinley after examining him this week. It means McKinley will go on waivers for a third time. Team not shutting the door on signing him when he's healthy. Presumably, his groin injury remains problematic.

The 49ers are the second team to fail to medically clear McKinley. The Bengals, who previously claimed Takk off waivers, also waived him after a failed physical. According to reports, it appears a groin injury is causing the failed physicals.

McKinley was a former first-round draft pick of the Falcons who has now been waived by Atlanta, Cincinnati and San Francisco. He may still end up on the field again at some point this season, but for now he’s going back on waivers.
