Cleveland Rape Center Receives Thousands In Donations After Browns Trade For Deshaun Watson

While a large majority of Browns fans are surely excited at the prospect of their usual lousy team in Cleveland landing of the most talented free agents at the QB position in NFL history, some are not too pleased with the move.

It’s not just Watson making his way to Cleveland, but the dark shadow of 20+ civil lawsuits and the stigma of Watson being a portrait of sexual assault after a slew of allegations from massage therapists came to light a year ago alleging the former Texans QB of sexual misconduct and assault.

In response, some Browns fans have donated to the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center.

The center issued a statement Saturday after receiving more than 1,000 donations in just one day.

“We understand the story surrounding DeShaun Watson joining the Cleveland Browns team is triggering for far too many of our friends and neighbors,” the statement reads. “For those who need additional support, please know Cleveland Rape Crisis Center is available to you 24/7/365.”

Spokeswoman Donisha Green said on Saturday the organization has received more than 1,000 donations. “In the last 24 hours we have received an overwhelmingly generous response from the community,” she said.

The Browns new QB will likely face a hefty suspension for the matter from the NFL despite a grand jury clearing Watson of all charges last week.
