Ex-NFL star Vontae Davis seemed to be sound asleep on the side of a highway near two wrecked vehicles after he was accused of drunkenly crashing his Tesla during an accident on Saturday morning, new photos, obtained by TMZ Sports, show.
Former NFL Pro-Bowl CB Vontae Davis made headlines years ago when he abruptly retired at halftime of a game, never returning to the league.
Now, Davis is back in the news for all the wrong reasons.
The 34-year-old former Dolphins, Colts and Bills CB was arrested earlier this week for DUI in Ft. Lauderdale, FL after his black Tesla Model S Plaid rammed into the back of a black Toyota truck at an apparent high rate for speed.
After cops arrived, Davis was found by first responders asleep on the pavement with his hands under his head reportedly not waking up even when crews moved around him.
Davis was reportedly fading in and out of consciousness after eventually being woken up and brought into the back of a cruiser.
While being questioned soon after, Davis could be seen by dash cam slurring his words. “Your eyes are bloodshot. Your speech is slurred. You can barely stay awake. All right? You almost killed somebody.”
Davis admit to police that he had drank two “mixed drinks” at the club before getting behind the wheel and had no recollection of the car accident. He said he left the club at 2 a.m. but the crash didn’t occur until 6 a.m. in the morning.
