The terrible conditions led to many players slipping and there were a lot of complaints from the Philadelphia Eagles afterwards.

“I’m not going to lie, it was the worst field that I’ve ever played on…it was very disappointing,” Eagles defensive end Haason Reddick said after the game. “It’s the NFL, you would think it would be better so we could get some better play, but it is what it is.”

One clip that encapsulates it all was posted by Laurie Fitzpatrick of The NFL Wire showing both Eagles defensive ends and Patrick Mahomes slipping on the same play:

The Guardian’s Ollie Connolly did some research and found that the pitch affected the Eagles way more. According to Connoly’s findings, Philly had a player slip on 38 percent of Patrick Mahomes dropbacks and had multiple slippages on five occasions:

The debate over grass vs turf was a big one during the season but it seems like if the NFL ever plans on making all their stadiums grass, they need to make sure they have the proper equipment and personnel to handle and maintain the grass.
