Sports are supposed to be an escape from the everyday, a time when the biggest worry is if your team will give up a home run or a touchdown, not if you’re safe in your current environment.
Unfortunately that wasn’t the case Friday night in Oklahoma when shots rang out at a high school football game, killing a 16-year-old boy, critically wounding a 42-year-old man who was shot in the chest, a teen girl being shot in leg, and wounding a fourth person.
The shooting took place at Choctaw High School during the third quarter of the school’s game against Del City High School.
Police believe an argument between at least two men that broke out on the visitor’s side of the stadium, leading to the shooting.
Video of the game captured the moments the shots were fired, causing absolute mayhem as players, coaches and fans ran for their lives in panic.
Absolute senseless gun violence.
