The National Football League won’t allow Jim Harbaugh to run away from his problems at Michigan should the NCAA hand down discipline over this sign-stealing scandal.
According to a report from the NFL Network, the Wolverines head coach is not expected to find “safe harbor” in the NFL:
If the NCAA does hand down a punishment to Harbaugh, the penalty will be upheld by the NFL, so Harbaugh won’t be able to escape punishment if he decides to leave Michigan for an NFL job.
“The NFL is unlikely to make itself a safe harbor for Harbaugh to escape what could be substantial NCAA discipline, league sources say, raising the strong possibility Harbaugh would need to serve some or all of any possible suspension he could face in college if he returns to the pros.”
“It wasn’t officially announced as a suspension, but in consultation with the NFL, the effect was the same. And the point was made: No one should escape discipline by leaving college for the pros,” the NFL Network clarified.
Currently the Michigan Wolverines are undefeated and are ranked No. 2 in the country.
