REPORT: The “Most Likely” Return Date For Aaron Rodgers Is Week 16 vs Commanders

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is reportedly targeting Week 16 as a return date from his torn achilles.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that date has been “lightly circled” as the target return date but Rodgers will only return if the Jets are still in the playoff hunt. The Jets enter Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills at 4-5 and will need to need to be in the playoff hunt for Rodgers’ return to make sense.

Rodgers tore his achilles in Week 1’s win over the Buffalo Bills after just attempting one pass. Many assumed that Rodgers’ injury would be season-ending but the 39-year-old has made an incredible recovery.

The Jets have three straight home games following Sunday’s visit to Buffalo, which will give them an opportunity to evaluate how much sense it makes for Rodgers to come back. If he does return in Week 16, it’ll be against the Washington Commanders at home.
