BREAKING: Former Bills Punter Matt Araiza Is Signing With Kansas City Chiefs

Former Buffalo Bills punter Matt Araiza is getting his second chance.

On Thursday, his agency JL Sports announced that Araiza has signed a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. His return to the NFL comes after no criminal chargers were filed in an alleged gang rape case involving the 23-year-old. A civil suit against him as dropped in December.

Araiza was a sixth round pick of the Buffalo Bills out of San Diego State in 2022. He was released ahead of the team’s final preseason game in August. They announced the decision two days after Araiza was accused of sexually assaulting a minor with two former San Diego State teammates in 2021.

The New York Jets brought in Araiza for a workout last May but the Chiefs seemed to be more motivated to sign him with veteran punter Tommy Townsend set to become a free agent next month.
