REPORT: 49ers Are ‘Discussing’ Trading Deebo Samuel Or Brandon Aiyuk TO Move Up In 2024 Draft

Some massive changes could be coming to the San Francisco 49ers.

According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the 49ers have “had conversations with teams” about trading wide receiver Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk to move up in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Both wide receivers are in different situations in regards to their relationship with the 49ers. Aiyuk is currently scheduled to play on the fifth year option in 2024 and will be unrestricted free agent after the season. So far this offseason, the 49ers and Aiyuk have remained far apart on contract negotiations.

Meanwhile, Deebo Samuel is signed through 2025 and there’s a sense that if the 49ers can trade him and re-sign Aiyuk while also drafting his replacement, it will not only help them financially but give them a younger receiver to pair alongside Aiyuk.

This is widely considered a strong wide receiver class.

The 49ers will be on the clock with the No. 31 overall pick and they could probably get good value if they stood pat and took a wideout there. Trading up into the top 10, however, might put them in play for one of the three players largely considered to be in a class by themselves: Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr., Washington’s Rome Odunze and LSU’s Malik Nabers.
