REPORT: 49ers Have Trade Deal In Place With Steelers For Brandon Aiyuk But Are Also Working To Re-Sign Him

This entire Brandon Aiyuk saga has been insane.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers have a deal in place that would send wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, the 49ers, who as we just mentioned have agreed to trade Aiyuk to Pittsburgh, are also working to sign him to an extension and according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the two sides aren’t far apart.

On top of that, despite the fact that he requested a trade, Aiyuk’s preference has always been to stay in San Francisco.

Update on Brandon Aiyuk:

Aiyuk is coming off the best season of his pro career so far, as he caught 75 passes for a career-best 1,342 yards.  The 49ers, who are still trying to win a Super Bowl, would probably need Aiyuk to help get them back there.

For now, Aiyuk remains a 49er but this situation continues to get weirder and weirder.
